Booth Barn is a helper, not an online store.
Shoppers browse your shop and hold things, but every sale happens in person at your market booth. Sellers can see the whole idea in the 1-minute tour.
For sellers
How do I add something to sell?
On My Shop, tap Add products, then Add one item. Take a photo, then type the price or tap Say the price and say it out loud. Booth Barn writes the name and description for you. Change any words you like, then tap Looks good, post it.
Can I add a bunch of items at once?
Yes. Tap Add products, then Add several from photos. Pick up to 20 photos, one item in each, and Booth Barn writes a name and description for every one. On the next screen, add the prices (or tap Same price for all), skip anything you don't want, and tap Add to my shop. The writer does up to 60 items a day for each shop. Past that, you can type the rest yourself.
I keep my stuff in Excel, a Word doc or a notebook. Can I bring that?
Yes. Tap Add products, then Bring your list. Pick your Excel or CSV file, Word document or PDF, snap a photo of your notebook or price list, or paste your list from anywhere. Booth Barn reads the names, prices and how many you have, in your own column names, and leaves out costs and notes to yourself. You check every item before anything is added. Using Google Sheets? Open it, then File › Download › Microsoft Excel.
I already sell on Etsy, Shopify or Square. Do I have to start over?
No. Download your item list from that site, then tap Add products, then From Etsy, Shopify or Square. Booth Barn shows you how to get the file from each one. Photos come over from Etsy and Shopify. Square's file doesn't include photos, so you add those after with Add photos in one go.
Will importing change my Etsy or Shopify shop?
No. It copies your list once. Booth Barn doesn't connect to your other shop, change anything there, or keep the two in sync. If you add new items online later, import again and skip the ones you already have.
My online shop doesn't say how many I have. What do I pick?
When you import, Booth Barn asks once how your items usually sell: Each is one of a kind, I can make more or Made to order. That sets every item, and you can change any one of them before you add them. If your file has counts, you can use those instead.
Can I add more than one photo?
Yes, up to 4 for each item. Tap the item on My Shop and tap Add photo. The first photo is the main one shoppers see in your shop. To change it, tap another photo and choose Make it the main photo.
I can always make more. Why does my item say “On hold” or sold out?
Open the item and, under How many can you sell?, choose As many as people want. Then any number of shoppers can hold one, and selling one never takes it out of your shop. Just this one is for one-of-a-kind pieces, and A set number counts down as they sell.
I make the same thing in different colors or sizes.
Open the item and tap Make a copy. You get a copy with the same words and price, ready for a new photo. That's much quicker than starting over.
How do I put my best item at the top of my shop?
Open the item and turn on Show it first. It moves to the top of your shop.
How do I add a cover photo, my logo or my story?
Open Settings, then Your cover and story. Add a cover photo (your booth or your table works great), a logo or a photo of you, and a few words for Meet the maker. Not sure what to write? Tap Help me write it, answer three quick questions, and edit the draft before you save. They show at the top of your shop page.
Can my story and picture go on my business cards and signs?
Yes. Tap the share arrow on My Shop, then Business cards, Table tent or Booth sign. Turn on Add my story and your cards get a Meet the maker back, the tent gets a Meet the maker side, and the sign gets a line from your story. Include my profile picture is off to start, to save ink. Need a banner? Booth banner gives you a 6 ft × 2 ft file to take to any print shop.
How do shoppers find my shop?
A few ways. Tap the share arrow at the top of My Shop to copy or text your link, print a QR sign for your table or business cards, or make a digital flyer to post on Facebook, Instagram or Nextdoor. Anyone can also tap the QR button on your shop page to show your code to a friend. And shoppers can find you on Booth Barn itself by searching, browsing, or looking up a market to see who's coming. Once you've added an item, your shop also shows up under New makers on the home page for a while.
How do I post my shop on Facebook or Instagram?
Tap the share arrow on My Shop, then Digital flyers. Pick Come see us, One item, My shop or Meet the maker (once you've added your story), choose Post or Story and a color, then tap Post it. The flyer is made from your own photos and next market, with your link and the words already written.
My market is every week. Do I have to add each day?
No. Tap Add a market day, and under How often? choose Every week, Every other week or Once a month. Booth Barn keeps adding the next few dates for you. To change or end it, tap it under Repeats on your Markets page. Ending it doesn't touch days where someone is already holding something.
My market says “Official dates from the market.” What's that?
The people who run that market post its dates and hours on Booth Barn. When you add that market, just tap the days you'll be there (or “I'm there every…”). If the market changes its hours or cancels a day, your booth updates on its own and you get a heads-up on your phone.
My booth says “Spot 14.” Where did that come from?
Your market's organizer gave you that spot. It shows with your booth so shoppers can find you. If it's wrong, let your market know.
Can I take my shop off a market's vendor list?
Yes. Go to Settings → Market vendor lists and turn that market off. You'll still show on the days you sign up for; you just won't be on the market's list of vendors.
I can't make it to a market. What do I do?
Go to Markets, tap the ⋯ next to that day, and choose Can't make it. It comes off your shop page. If you change your mind, tap I can make it after all.
What's a hold, and how do I know who's picking up?
A hold means a shopper asked you to set an item aside for a market day. They pay you in person when they pick it up. Each hold in your Inbox shows the last 4 digits of their phone number. Ask for them at pickup, then tap Picked up.
What should I look at on market day?
Your Pickup list. Tap your next market on My Shop, or Pickup list in your Inbox. It shows everyone picking up that day with the last 4 digits of their phone, plus how much food people are interested in.
Can shoppers hold things after the market closes?
Normally holds for a market day stop when that market ends. If you meet people after the market, or just want holds to keep coming in, go to Settings and turn on Take holds after the market closes. Then shoppers can hold things for that day until midnight.
What if someone doesn't pick up their hold?
Once that market day passes, the hold ends and the item goes back on sale by itself. You can also cancel a hold sooner from the ⋯ menu on it in your Inbox.
Do I have to record my sales?
No, it's up to you. If you'd like a count, tap I sold one next to an item on My Shop whenever you sell one at your booth. The Sales tab adds it all up.
How do I know when a shopper sends me something?
A red number shows on the Inbox button. For a ping on your phone, go to Settings and turn on Notifications. On iPhone, add Booth Barn to your Home Screen first (Settings → Add to Home Screen).
I offer a service, like knife sharpening. Can I list it?
Yes. Add it like any item, then pick Service. Choose how you charge (per item, like $8 per knife, one price, or starting at), how long it takes, and what shoppers should bring. Services never sell out. Shoppers tap I'll bring some and say how many, and your Inbox shows a heads-up like “6 people are bringing about 14 knives.” It's not a booking: first come, first served.
How does selling food work?
Food uses I'm interested instead of holds, so you get a head count before market day without promising anything. You type any ingredients or allergens yourself. If you cook at home under your state's cottage food law, turn on Settings → Home kitchen food.
Can I look at other shops while I'm logged in?
Yes. Tap Browse Booth Barn at the bottom of My Shop to see it the way shoppers do. Tap My Shop at the top to come back.
Does Booth Barn take payments?
No. Shoppers pay you at your booth however you already take money. Booth Barn never handles payments.
How do I pay a market's booth fee?
However the market asks. If it's a verified market that added its pay links, your Markets tab shows the fee, when it's due, and buttons like Pay on Venmo that open your own app to pay the market directly. Then tap I paid. Tell the market so they know to check you off. Booth Barn never touches booth fees.
How much does it cost?
Starting is free, and the basics stay free: your shop, your items, holds, your Inbox, market days and being found by shoppers. We never take a cut of what you sell at your booth. The first 50 shops (the Founding 50) get a numbered Founding vendor badge and keep every paid extra, including Vendor Pro, free for life. Add your first item within 30 days to keep your number. Paid extras are always optional. See everything that's free and what Pro adds on the Vendor Pro page.
Will I be charged when Pro starts?
No. Nobody is moved onto a paid plan by itself. Everything is free right now, and when Pro starts you'll get a heads-up first. Pro only begins if you choose it and check out yourself, and you can cancel anytime in Settings → Your plan. Founding vendors never pay for Vendor Pro.
What do the badges on a shop mean?
Founding vendor · No. 12: one of the first 50 shops on Booth Barn. Barn Raiser: brought other vendors to Booth Barn with their invite link (it counts once they add an item; 10 makes a Master Barn Raiser). Market scout: put markets on Booth Barn so others can find them. Tap Barn Raiser or Market scout to see what it counts.
Someone is sending me junk. Can I stop them?
Yes. In your Inbox, tap the ⋯ on their message or hold and choose Block this number. You can undo it from the Done tab.
How do I change my shop name or link, or delete my shop?
Tap the gear on My Shop to open Settings. Name and about and Shop link are at the top. Delete my shop is at the very bottom.
For shoppers
How do I find local makers and food?
On the Booth Barn home page, search for anything (like “honey” or “wood signs”), tap Browse to look around by kind, or open Markets to see which vendors are coming to each market. Add your town or ZIP to see what's closest first.
Do I need an account?
No. Just your first name and phone number, and your phone remembers them for next time. If you want to see your holds on another phone, sign in on My stuff with a texted code. There's still no account to set up.
How do I hold something?
Open the item and tap Hold for me, pick the market day, and you're done. Pay the seller at their booth when you pick it up. They'll ask for the last 4 digits of your phone number.
Where do I see what I'm holding, or the shops I follow?
Tap My stuff (at the bottom of every page, or at the top once you've held something or followed a shop). It shows each hold and whether it's still held for you, picked up or cancelled, questions you sent and whether the shop answered, and the shops you follow with when they'll be at a market next. New phone? Tap Sign in with my phone there and use the same number to see everything again.
The shop has no market planned. Can I still hold something?
Yes. Tap Hold for me and the item is set aside for you, and the seller will text you to set up a time and place to pick it up. These holds last up to 30 days.
I can't make it to pick up my hold.
Let the seller know with Ask about this on the item. If you don't pick it up, the hold simply ends after that market day.
Why does an item say “On hold”?
Someone else is holding it for the next market. Check back after that market day, or tap Follow.
What does “I'll bring some” mean?
It's for services, like knife sharpening or engraving. Tell the vendor which market day and how many you're bringing, plus a note if you like. It's a heads-up, not a booking: first come, first served, and you pay at the booth.
What does “I'm interested” mean on food?
It tells the seller how much to make, like a head count. It isn't an order, so get to their booth early for the best pick.
What does Follow do?
It keeps the shop on your Booth Barn home page under Shops you follow, so their next market is easy to find. You can also tap Add their market days to my calendar: every market day they add shows up in your phone's calendar on its own, with a heads-up the day before. Or check the optional box to get a text before their markets. Texts are never required, and you can reply STOP to any text to stop them.
For market organizers
I run a market. How do I get an official page?
Go to For markets, sign in with your phone number, find your market (or add it), and tell us how we can check you run it. We check every claim by hand, usually within a day. It's free.
What can I do once it's official?
Set your season (like every Saturday, 8 to noon), add special dates, change one day's hours, and cancel a day for bad weather. Your vendors tap the days they'll be there, and anyone coming gets a heads-up when you change or cancel a day. You can also add a few words about your market, and your website and Facebook page.
Can I list every vendor and give out booth spots?
Yes. Open Vendors from your market. Vendors with a Booth Barn shop show up on their own once they pick a day; add everyone else by name with what they sell and a link. Tap Set spot to give anyone a booth spot. Shoppers see the whole list on your market's page, and each vendor sees their spot.
How do I tell vendors we're taking new booths?
On your market, tap Vendors, then turn on Taking new vendors? Add your booth fee and how to apply (a link to your application, or something like “Email us at…”). Your market's page shows it to vendors. Booth Barn never collects booth fees; vendors pay you directly. To share one link everywhere, open Applications, then Share your application for a link and a QR code.
Can vendors pay their booth fee with Venmo or PayPal?
Yes, straight to you. Open Booths, then How vendors pay you, and add your market's Venmo, PayPal, Zelle or Cash App. Approved vendors see them next to their fee. When one taps I paid, your market day board says Says paid; check your account, then tap Mark paid. Only verified markets can add pay links, and Booth Barn never touches the money.
I already keep my vendors in a spreadsheet (or ShowUp, or a Google Form). Do I retype them?
No. On your market, tap Vendors, then Bring your list (or Add from a spreadsheet). Save your list as a .csv or .xlsx file first: in Google Sheets, File, Download, CSV; in ShowUp and most apps, look for Export. We find each vendor's name, what they sell, a link and their booth number, link the ones who already have a Booth Barn shop, and ask you about any close matches. Nothing is added until you tap Add. Then you can send everyone else a ready-made invite.
What happens when a vendor applies to my market?
When you're taking new vendors, your page shows Apply for a booth. Vendors send their shop, what they sell, the days they want and anything your form asks for (insurance, permit, your rules). You get a heads-up if you have Booth Barn notifications on. Open Applications to say yes (pick their spot), add them to the waitlist, or say no. When a spot opens, the next vendor on the waitlist can be offered it on their phone. Booth fees still go to you directly, never through Booth Barn.
Can Booth Barn approve vendors and send setup details for me?
Yes, if you want. In What we ask vendors, turn on Approve by itself while there's room: a vendor gets in right away when their kind of vendor and booth type aren't full, and the rest wait for you. Turn on Send setup details by themselves and each approved vendor gets your setup times, plus a reminder at 5 pm two days before every market day. Both are off until you turn them on.
Can I use the map I already have?
Yes. On Your market map, take a photo of your site plan, flyer or sketch, or choose a picture you already have. We keep your picture and put a numbered pin on each booth, using your own booth numbers when the map has them. Tap a pin to fix its number, name or booth type, drag it to move it, and add any we missed. No map yet? Tap Start drawing to place booths on squares. Either way, nothing changes until you tap Save.
Where do I keep my insurance and permits?
On your Markets tab, tap Insurance and permits. Add a photo or PDF and when it ends. Markets you apply to can open them, so you don't send the same papers over and over, and you get a reminder 30 days before one ends.
I sell on Booth Barn. Can I run a market too (or the other way around)?
Yes, with the same phone number. No second account. Vendors: open Settings and tap Run a market too?. Organizers: tap Sell at markets too? at the bottom of your market. Once you have both, the home page shows a My Shop and a My market button.
Does it cost anything?
No. Your official market page, market days, vendor list, map and lineup are free for good. Market Pro adds extras like applications on autopilot, the day board and vendors picking their own spot, and it's free for now. Markets that join while Booth Barn is free get Market Pro free for their first full season. See the Market Pro page.
If my market loses Pro, do my vendors lose anything?
No. Your page, dates, vendor list, map and lineup stay up, and vendors keep their shops and their spots. Pro only adds the extra tools for running market day. Booth Barn never handles booth fees, so nothing about how vendors pay you changes either way.
