Booth Barn helps people who sell at farmers markets and craft fairs put their booth online. This page explains what information Booth Barn collects, why, and who can see it.
What we collect
If you sell on Booth Barn: your phone number (to log in), your name, your shop details, product photos and descriptions, the markets you sign up for, and the sales you choose to record.
If you shop: the name and phone number you type in when you hold an item, say you're interested, ask a question, send a custom request or sign up for a shop's reminder texts, plus your message and any photo you attach. Following a shop without texts needs no name or number. You don't need an account.
If you run a market: your phone number (to log in), your name and role, what you told us so we could check your claim, and the market's dates and page details. Market pages, dates and links are public; your phone number and claim details are only seen by the Booth Barn team.
If you use “closest first”: the town or ZIP you type, or, if you allow it, your phone's location rounded to about a mile. It's used to sort shops and markets by distance and is kept in a cookie on your phone for up to 90 days. Booth Barn doesn't store it.
Shop visits: when someone opens a shop or item page, Booth Barn adds one to that day's count for the shop, with the kind of place they came from (like Instagram, a booth QR code or a market page). Only the number is kept, never who visited, so sellers can see how many people are finding them.
Kept on your own phone: your name and number (so you don't retype them), the holds you've made, the shops you follow, the last shop you visited, which shops were already counted as a visit today, and recent pages so Booth Barn works with a weak signal. That stays on your phone, and clearing your browser data removes it.
How it's used
- To run the shop: showing products, holding items, and passing your messages to the seller.
- So the seller can recognize you at pickup (by the last 4 digits of your phone) and text you back.
- To send the texts you asked for: a login code when a seller asks to log in, and market reminders if you checked the optional box when following a shop.
- To keep Booth Barn safe, such as blocking spam.
Booth Barn doesn't sell your information, and has no ads.
Who can see it
When you contact a shop, that shop's seller sees your name, phone number and message. Other shops don't. Shoppers can see what a seller puts in their shop.
Shops, products, prices and market days that sellers add are public, and can appear in search engines like Google. Shoppers' names, phone numbers and messages are never shown publicly.
Booth Barn uses a few companies to run the service: Supabase (stores the data), Vercel (runs the website), Twilio (sends text messages), Anthropic (helps sellers write product listings from a photo), Cloudflare (checks that people logging in are human), and OpenStreetMap and the U.S. Census Bureau (turn market addresses, towns and ZIP codes into spots on a map). They only use the information to provide that service to Booth Barn.
Text messages
We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
How you sign up: Booth Barn sends market reminder texts only to people who check the optional, unchecked “also text me reminders” box on a shop's Follow page (for example, boothbarn.com/vintagegrain/follow) and enter their phone number. If you unsubscribed, replying START, YES or UNSTOP signs you back up. Phone numbers you give when holding an item, asking a question or sending a request are passed to that seller only and are never used for Booth Barn texts.
Message frequency varies, usually 1 to 4 texts a month for each shop you follow. Message and data rates may apply.
You only get texts you asked for. Reply STOP to any Booth Barn text to stop, or HELP for help. See the texting terms for details.
